Sadly there will be no more pics on daily bread for a while. Elijah’s affection for sand extended to rubbing it into our camera lens. Sigh.

Anyway, it was a real treat to get to hang out with Wendy today and see her face aglow with love for life and people and God. This is a woman created for adventure.

Big thankful day to day. I realised that it was 2 years to the very day since I arrived in Canada bewildered and pregnant. Seems like a lifetime ago and I am acutely aware how extraordinary God’s provision for us here has been and how very great an adventure we have had.

An afternoon at a nearby fishing village with the lovely Nics.

This included watching one son eat handfuls of sand and then giggle when he was found out and the other hurtle himself, clothed, into the waves just for the hell of it.

I love my boys and as much as it exhausts me, I love the fact that they embrace life and adventure.

A west wing night with Jayber.

We’re just going to pretend there hasn’t been a break in service for 20 days. Sadly this means I don’t get to regale you with the camping trip fiasco stories but there we go.

I am thankful for 3 irish women who have been staying in the courtyard these last weeks. It has been so good  to hang out with Lorrs, Wendy and Martha and it truly makes going home that wee bit easier having had some of their irish craic here, (plus they have been endlessly helpful with the mini vandals AND gave us a night out).
Time ticks on. 40 days til we hit Irish soil.

2 Elijah moments today that made me smile:

1. I got my first ever spontaneous hug from him. Usually you have to try and catch him first then stop the wriggling to get any kind of cuddle but this morning he just came over and put his arms round my neck for snuggle.

2. He’s put up with a lot from his big brother – being sat on, spat on, hugged to within an inch of his life and had many a toy taken out of his reach. So I silently cheered him on this morning when Caleb refused to give him a book and Elijah delivered a swift Glasgow kiss. My boy is learning his boundaries!

A night out with friends, sitting outside the pub having adult conversation without any discussion of parenting or kids.

Bye bye boxes.

Hmmm….starting to feel like I might be going somewhere.

I’m thankful for lovely neighbours – one set lent us their van to take the boxes to the airport, the other provided childcare. What will I do without them?

I love a good thunder storm – reminds me I am not in control and that I live in a big world. It was quite a ways away from us but I loved hearing that deep rumble all the way down to my toes.

Seeing Jayber do something outside his comfort zone in order to learn and love a stranger.
